· 6-6:45PM, Guests Park and Are Served Dinner While Pioneertown Trivia and Vintage Advertising Plays
· 6:45-7PM, Announcements and Raffle
· 7-8PM, Live Comedy Performance by James P Connolly
Last time we had a few issues.. but we've found a few solutions.
In addition to traditional speakers for the night's entertainment, Pioneertown Comedy Chuckwagon will also transmit the whole show through a commercial grade FM Transmitter so you will be able to enjoy everything on your FM Radio without ever having to leave the safety of your vehicle.
Last time the FM Transmitter was too close to the show and picked up too much interference. This time it'll be setup just close enough to broadcast without picking up any interference.
The entire show will also be projected onto a 15o" Movie Screen to help ensure that everyone gets a good view.
Last time it was too windy to inflate the screen. This time we've built a wooden frame for the screen and anchored it into the ground.
A stand-up comedian and radio/TV host known for his playful, confident style and quick wit. While serving in Desert Storm, he was ordered to write jokes for a Colonel. Arriving in Hollywood, he began to perform at LA's major comedy venues and soon popped up on television, commercials and in small films.
James has appeared on America’s Got Talent, Comedy Central, HBO, in the new Netflix series, “Larry Charles: Dangerous World of Comedy”, and on the Audible Audio Documentary, “Strong Ending” and can be heard daily on SiriusXM Comedy Channels. He has hosted “Live From Here” for National Lampoon XM Radio and recorded a “Blue Collar Radio Comedy Concert” for SiriusXM in addition to producing an annual Veterans Day Comedy Show benefiting the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP).
If you enjoy the vintage advertising that you hear on Pioneertown Public radio, then you are sure to love what you'll see before James takes the stage.
From 6PM-6:45PM, as cars are parked and food is served, we will run vintage drive-in theater and television advertising as well as Pioneertown Trivia.
Mine Train Smokery was established by Virgil Wagaman & Stacy Brewer to bring quality smoked meats and sides at a “Home Town” price to the Morongo Basin.
The Comedy Chuckwagon wouldn't be complete without finger lickin' western barbecue during the show.. and The Mine Train Smokery will be there to provide hot and delicious meats and treats directly to your vehicle!
Do you want to enjoy some delicious meats and treats during the show?
Meals will be available for purchase at the show. But please make it easier for us and purchase them in advance.
John and Gay Smith purchased the Desert Willow Ranch from Russel Hayden back in 1969. What you now see on the five acre lot has been lovingly laid out and developed over the years by the Smith family.
The Desert Willow Ranch offers many unique amenities all in one conveniently located spot and can be rented year round as a prime Pioneertown vacation getaway or event venue.
How many people will be there and will it be safe?
We are working under half of the maximum occupancy permitted for this space under the current State and County Safety Guidelines in order to provide a safe environment for our guests.
There are 3o assigned spaces, each spaced over eight feet apart. Tickets will be sold until we run out of spaces or the total projected attendance exceeds 9o People, including all event staff.
What all does a ticket include and how many people can come in a car?
A Parking Ticket will grant one car access to the event. The number of passengers allowed per vehicle must not exceed the number of safety belts/seats in said vehicle. Each guest will get a raffle ticket when their vehicle is parked.
Are children allowed to come?
Children are welcome to come - though this event is aimed more for adults. ;)
What is the raffle?
Each guest will be given a raffle ticket upon entry. Prizes will be raffled off to lucky guests before the end of the night.
When do the doors open?
Vehicles may enter starting at 5:45PM. The music starts at 6PM and the comedy hour starts at 8PM.
What if I am late?
Please don’t show up late! Vehicles will be directed to their parking spots from 6:oo-6:45PM. The gates will be closed after 6:45PM and no later entry will be permitted.
Can I bring a camper or RV to the show?
No. RVs and campers are not currently allowed as we simply do not have the space for them.
How do I get sound to hear the comedy show? Should I bring my own battery-operated radio or use the radio in my car?
The sound is broadcast through an FM transmitter that you can receive through any FM radio, including the one in many car stereos. If you are concerned that your car battery will run down, or if your car does not have an FM radio, then please bring a portable battery-powered FM radio.
Can I use a radio app on my phone to listen?
A small portable FM radio works best. We cannot guarantee that an Apple or Android app will work as they tend to pick up internet radio rather than local stations.
Will there be another Pioneertown Comedy Chuckwagon?
The goal is to host one on the first Tuesday of every month with more and more fun planned when it is safer (and warmer) for everyone.
Why is this being held on a Tuesday night?
Because there isn't anything else to do in Pioneertown on a Tuesday. ;)
